ANCAP Vehicle Safety Ratings
Our continued attention on driver safety is non-negotiable. Here, it's not just the maintenance or driving behaviour that requires consideration but the initial choice of vehicle also.
Our fleet has been assessed according to the strict requirements of the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), the independent body providing clear guidance for drivers in Australia and New Zealand.
ANCAP was established in 1993. Since then it has published crash test results for over 400 vehicles. These vehicles are awarded star ratings indicating the level of safety each provides in an accident.
ANCAP awards a star rating from 1 to 5 for each vehicle following independent crash tests by specialist laboratories. New vehicles are awarded or deducted points based on a combination of test categories and scientific criteria. All vehicles are assessed under identical testings standards and conditions. Five stars is the best ranking a vehicle can receive.
All except one of Thrifty's passenger cars have an ANCAP safety rating of five stars. Our rental vans and utes also have high rankings. The safety of our customers is always a priority and our objective is to have a five star fleet, as and when new vehicle models come onto the market.
