If you love the outdoors, Dunedin is the perfect city for you. Nestled in and amongst an extinct volcano crater, Dunedin is home to some spectacular hikes. Stroll across to the most romantic point of this city on Tunnel Beach Walk or challenge yourself on the Frasers Gully Bush Walk. There’s also the Ross Creek walk, for those wanting to see some beautiful scenery.

Dunedin is  one of New Zealand’s first three cities, which is why it’s home to some of the best Edwardian and Victorian architecture in the Southern Hemisphere. Stroll around and see if you can spot the gothic church spires and fascinating building details, amongst the ornate architecture. 

Dunedin is the only UNESCO Creative City of Literature in New Zealand. This city is home to some true literary heroes, so make sure to take the Dunedin Writers Walk while you’re in the city. You can stop by the Toitu Otago Early Settlers Museum and the Otago Museum and learn about the history of Dunedin, too! Plus, if it’s a nice day, stroll around the Dunedin Chinese Gardens and learn about the city’s links with China. 

Of course, there’s always time for a bite to eat! Dunedin has a gorgeous range of restaurants available, like the Press Club, which is a luxe restaurant that’s perfect for a special occasion. Alternatively, there’s the waterfront Titi Restaurant or the 1908 Cafe Restaurant.
