Where is the branch located?

150 Kilmore street - Located at the intersection of Kilmore Street and Manchester Street. The entrance to the  office is located on the Manchester Street side of the building. With the entrance/exit of the precinct carpark located on the Kilmore Street side.

Christchurch Downtown Car Rental FAQs

Please park your rental car in any of the appropriate bays inside the precinct and hand your keys to a member of staff. When returning your rental vehicle please ensure it is refuelled unless you have selected a pre purchase fuel option. If you do not refuel before return and have not pre purchased fuel, refuelling will be charged at the price stated on your rental agreement.

If returning your vehicle outside of business hours simply park in a legal car park on Kilmore Street, lock the car and place keys in drop box to the right-hand side of the precinct entrance

If you are running late and you won't be able to collect your rental car at the allocated time, it is important to get in touch with the branch you are collecting from so that we can make alternate arrangements. If you have arrived at the branch and it is closed and if you haven't made prior arrangements for an after-hours collection you will need to pick-up your rental car the following day.

On the way to Mount Cook is Lake Tekapo, another incredible glacier-lake that is a mesmerising turquoise blue. Here, you’ll find one of the best stargazing spots in the world! Not only will you see plenty of stars, but planets, galaxies, and constellations, too. Hike up Mt John beforehand though to catch a beautiful sunset - it’ll be well worth it. 

Another road trip from Christchurch Downtown is Kaikoura - home to abundant wildlife, you’ll have an exciting time exploring both the land and sea! Check out the whale watching and dolphin swimming tours when you visit. 

Art, Museums, and More in Christchurch Downtown

Once you’re back in the city, let’s go straight to see some art and culture. Christchurch is known for being the home of street art, so keep an eye out as you walk around! While you’re here, take a wander round Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetu, or Art Box Gallery. Founded after the Christchurch earthquake, the Art Box Gallery was founded to support local artists. 

There’s always something to see, learn, and discover in Christchurch Downtown! For example, Christchurch is one of the five cities in the world that’s known as a ‘gateway to Antarctica’, so you should definitely pop into the International Antarctic Centre while you’re here.
